ETCATA Visits Lomé, Togo - July, 2003
During the month of July, Dean McKinney and Edna Dach provided technology workshops in the city of Lomé, Togo on behalf of the PanAfrican Teachers' Centre (PATC). The participants were educators from over twenty African countries. The men and women who took part were sponsored by teachers' unions who hold membership with the PanAfrican Teachers' Centre. The event received its funding from Education International, Canadian Teachers' Federation, and the Alberta Teachers' Association.
The PanAfrican Teachers' Centre (www.panafrica.ws ) has a website created by ETCATA. The website is currently housed on ETCATA's servers and is accessed by teachers from all over Africa. ETCATA members from all over Alberta are currently involved in a mentorship program aimed at helping various teacher organizations across Africa establish their own websites and Internet resources. The project is expected to continue for at least five years.
